Purim & (Santa) in Mea Shearim

B"H

Mea Shearim is celebrating Purim but, oh no, it happened again. Haredi kids dressing up as Santa Claus and don't even know for what the costume stands.:-)

  1. Almost everything is permitted that day. You could see many Charedim dressed up in soldiers and policemen, while we all know the Charedi hatred toward the IDF and the Israeli police.

Interestingly, in Chabad, the best desguisement is a fake shtreimel and false long peyos, because we generally don't wear streimel and don't have long peyos.

All this is what Purim is all about! To be in the body of someone we know we will never be!

Its just strange seeing all those Santas. Last year, an entire Mea Shearim family was drssed up as Santa Claus and the poor guys didn't even know what was going on.

Well, maybe those costumes were sold as a special offer.

  3. Moreover, it was RED, and like I previously said, Chassidim women generally don't dress in red.

I am just surprise that they didn't get stoned in Mea Shearim. :-)
