Photos from the Ashkenazi ARI Synagogue in Safed

B"H

Many more pictures will hopefully follow !

There are two Synagogues of the famous Kabbalist Rabbi Yitzchak Luria (known as the ARI) in Safed: One is Sephardi and one is Ashkenazi.

Here are two photos from the Ashkenazi ARI Synagogue located in the Old City of Safed (Northern Israel).

  1. I love this synagogue, especially its historical aspect and the lovely colors. I was born in Calabria, Southern Italy, the same region from where Hayyim ben Joseph Vital (Calabria, 1543 – Damascus, 23 April 1620) came from. He certainly was a foremost exponent of Lurianic Kabbalah and might have known the synagogue very well. In the first half of the XVI century there were Sicilian and Calabrian Jews in Safed.
    Thanks for the pics

I made plenty of pictures of the inside of the Synagogue but my phone broke and I have to download all the photos from the memory stick first.

In other words: More pictures of this Synagogue are coming up !
