Vitebsk in Belarus in 1910. 40 % of its population was Jewish.
Today and tomorrow (Thursday) we are celebrating Rosh Chodesh Iyar (beginning of the new jewish month of Iyar). This Rosh Chodesh is also the Yahrzeit of the famous chassidic Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vitebsk.
