"The Metamorphosis" by F. Kafka

B"H

A haredi forum is discussing the Franz Kafka story "The Metamorphosis - Die Verwandlung" and some participants come to the conclusion that Kafka's hero Gregor Samsa wakes up in the morning as a new Gilgul (reincarnation). I don't see the point in this idea because those of you reading the story carefully know that Samsa stands for the outsider within a family. Suddenly he acts differently and the other family members show their disapproval in the most extreme way.

  1. Makor Rishon features a lengthy article about Kafka, his life and work, and his relation to Yahadut. Worth checking out.
