How Israel legally punishes Christian Missionaries

B"H

The law against missionaries from 1977:

A person giving or promising money or other valuables to a second person in order to force his religion upon the recipient may be punished with either five years in jail or a fine of 5000 Shekels (approx. 1200 Dollar).

Please note that the punishments listed here may have underwent changes during all those years !

It is totally forbidden to missionize minors. Whoever is talking to a minor and trying to missionize him, will be punished with six months in jail.

Further please note that Christian missionaries don't care about the Israeli law at all. It happens all the time that missionaries show their hatred towards religious Jews; in particular towards Haredim. Furthermore it is quite common that those missionaries also publish anti - Semitic articles just as the Nazi Julius Streicher did during the first years of the Third Reich (and before Hitler came to power).

  1. What about the missionary that puts on a kippah and goes around the Kotel trying to push his garbage? There are even pictures of him doing so but nobody is taking any action. And now 36,000 of them will be in Binyamin Hauma with a Korean cult leader--and our Mayor and E Barak are going to join them!! This is too much. Once again greed for money has wiped the brains from our government.

I've always thought that handing out pamphlets would be forbidden by law. Well, I was wrong and Yad Le'Achim told me that only the two things mentioned in the article are really forbidden. They even made me a copy of the particular law.

If you see a missionary at the Kotel, just tell the Haredim.:-)
