Sunday night, new massive haredi protests started in the Ge'ulah / Mea Shearim neighbourhoods. The day before, several Haredim (mostly Toldot Aharon) got arrested due to the last demonstrations in front of the "Karta" parking lot. Jerusalem's mayor Nir Barkat still allows the parking lot to open on Shabbat.

On Sunday night, a Palestinian stabbed a Jew at the "Zephania Hotel" in Ge'ulah. The Palestinian escaped and was later caught by the police. Him and the Jew he killed were two criminals.
"Hotel Zephania" is well - known in Jerusalem for it's criminal "inhabitants". Social workers put many homeless alcoholics, schizophrenics and drug addicts into the "hotel". Then they, at least, have a temporary shelter. Just recently, a friend of mine told me to write about the "Zephania" but he also emphasized that, in case I go there to interview the manager, I should bring a baseball bat in order to protect myself, as the inhabitants are so crazy and attack visitors.

After the Jew was stabbed and the police showed up in order to take the dead body, some Haredim had gathered and tried to avoid the police taking the body out of the "Zephania". According to Halacha, cutting a dead body into pieces in order to find out why someone had died, is forbidden. Thus the Haredim tried saving the body from being violated. The demonstration became wild and the police had to use tear gas.

It looks like Nir Barkat doesn’t care anymore about how to break down a demonstration. The demonstrations, however, went also on last night and again, trash cans were burnt at Kikar Shabbat.
