  1. A lot of soldiers in Nachal Chareidim are not even Frum!

There has been a drive for years to get Chareidim to join different units, air-force and now the navy.

But in general Chareidim don't go to the army

There is an amount of non - Haredim in the Nachal, that's right. National religious who may be not participate in the Hesder Programme.

Today, "Yediot Acharonot" reported that drafted Haredim had to show up at an army center. The news was that all the female soldiers had to disappear today (modesty). So, that the new haredi soldiers don't faint on their first day.

A few years ago, I read about a Toldot Aharon Chassid who went to the army. Although the Chassidim rejected him, the Rebbe "accepted" it. Unfortunately there is no report on what happened to the Chassid and if he is happily married and still part of the group.

There are quite a few Haredim who would go to the army if their rabbis let them. Nevertheless, there are some who actually join.

  3. A few weeks back there was an article complaining of the high percentage of frum jews in the IDF-- believe it was something like 40% in the officer schools--so what do they want. If they don't join there is griping if there are too many they complain!

The IDF has a basic problem which is "Not enough space for everyone who wants to be a soldier". And not too many people realize that.
